Introduction to Needle Felting: Woodland Mushrooms

February 22 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Needle felting is a fun and relaxing craft that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of their experience with other kinds of art. Needle felting uses unspun wool to create small animals and objects, or flat pictures that can be framed. In this introductory class, you will learn the basics of needle felting and receive all of the supplies you need to start a new crafting hobby!

In this class, we will be learning how to make adorable woodland mushrooms. Depending on how long you spend on your first one, you may have time to make two during this class. We will learn how to make round shapes using our needles and wool, how to add colors to our projects, and how to use a small needle to create the white spots on our mushroom.

Instructor Lauren Graves lives in Kooskia, where she enjoys creating crafts, painting, and writing novels. She is an award-winning needle felting artist and professional felting instructor. Her felting classes have been hosted in Grangeville, Kamiah, and at Sweet Pines Alpacas in Craigmont.

Class Supply List:
(Please note that these supplies will be provided for you to keep at the time of the class.)
Needle felting mat (foam, wool, or natural fiber mats are recommended for beginners)
2-3 leather finger protectors
Several felting needles (you will need at least a large, such as a 36 triangle, and a small, such as a 40 triangle or crown.)
Approx. 1/4 ounce of Core wool
Approx. 1/4 ounce of carded Maori or Corriedale wool, or similar, in red and white

Class Cost: $35 per person (for supplies)
There is a $15 discount for students who bring their own mat, finger protectors, and needles. If you bring your own supplies, you will be refunded $15 at the time of the class. Wool will be provided for everyone.

Due to the very sharp needles, this class is for ages 12 and up, and kids under 16 years old should be accompanied by an adult.

Please RSVP for this class with the form below. In addition to the $35 supplies fee, you will have an option to make a donation to support River Arts. You can bypass this option by hitting “Continue”. The system treats the RSVP and contact info as separate things so you will need to enter that twice. You will be able to put in the names of everyone in your group and you will also receive email confirmation of your registration and event reminders. We look forward to seeing you in the studio!
